I just finished up Ian’s gallery, and I had to post a few more. He’s just such a sweetie! Here he is playing with his fire truck…

I’m finishing up Peyton’s gallery today (yeah, I’m a bit behind – stupid cold!!) and I just had to post this. Could she be any more beautiful?? The big brown eyes, the insanely gorgeous eyelashes, that perfect little mouth… love her!!!

Myles at Six Months | Syracuse Child Photographer

Posted on February 25, 2010

I can’t believe how much Myles has grown since his newborn session! He’s got such a sweet, easy-going personality. Not to mention the fact that he’s too cute for words!!

I love the surprised look on his face in this one. Cracks me up. :)

Here’s something I used to love soooooo much when my guys were this age – sloppy smoochies!!

Oh yeah, he’s a charmer all right.

We tired him right out, so he took a little snooze with his mama.

Oooooh, more feet! Don’t you just want to munch on those little toes??

Ian is Two! | Syracuse Child Photographer

Oh, how much I love this family! I first met Ian and his parents a year ago, for Ian’s one-year photos. Today was our third session, and I had a great time with them – again! Ian has the coolest parents any kid could ask for. Who else would clear out the dining room and fill it up with balloons? We had a blast tossing them around and running through them and trying not to pop them!

Oh, it’s the giant cupcake maker thing that Griffin is always bugging me for! Too bad I’m not as nice as Ian’s mom. :)

Happy Birthday Ian! I hope you have a great time at your party!

Peyton at 6 Months | Syracuse Child Photographer

I can’t believe how quickly they grow! You may remember Peyton from her newborn session. She was such a sweet little baby. And look at her now! Such a big girl, and with a little bit of the diva in her! She refused to give me smiles as long as the camera was around. Apparently this is something she does with every camera, not just mine. Little stinker! But by the end I did manage to get a little bit of a grin out of her. :)

This is the look I got from her for most of the session – complete boredom. Just toooo cool to smile. Love it.

Here she’s starting to warm up to me. And can I just say what a perfect little mouth she has??

Look, it’s almost a smile!

Thanks for playing with me Peyton! I can’t wait to see how much you grow between now and your one-year session!

My Favorites of 2009 | Little Ones

Posted on December 29, 2009

Older infants, scooting and crawling all over the place. Sweet little toddlers, just figuring out the walking thing. Cute preschoolers, becoming more independent (though sometimes that independence means not wanting anything to do with the camera :) ). Here are my favorite little one pics of 2009.

Julia

Posted on December 28, 2009

I can’t believe how much Julia has grown since her newborn session! And I want to thank her family for waiting so patiently for this sneak peek. The holiday rush is finally over, and I can get back to fun things like this!

I love it when we can include the parents’ bed in some of the pictures. Kids seem to have so much fun playing on them!

Peek-a-boo!

Julia also had fun in the tub.

Love the little tongue!

This hat and the look on her face just kill me.

And I got to be there for Julia’s first experience with snow! She did not seem overly impressed.

But being pulled around on the sled was kind of fun.

Thanks for playing with me Julia! I can’t wait to see you at your one year session. And thanks again for being so patient, Mom & Dad!

Those eyes!

Meet Janae. She’s six months old, and she has the most incredibly beautiful eyes. Ever.

See, told you!!
julian_blog4

Do you know what Janae loves? Her fingers! Not all of her fingers, just these two. And she looks so darn cute with them stuck in her mouth!
julian_blog6

Six months old, and already posing. :)

This time we dressed up the teacup shot a little bit.

Love this one, with the mussed up hair and those insanely big eyes!

Thanks Janae! I had fun playing with you and I can’t wait to see how much you grow in the next six months!

A special day for a special girl

Posted on November 8, 2009

I was so honored and pleased to be able to photograph this sweet little girl yesterday. Those of you who know me well know that Grant was a preemie, born a month too early. He suffered from Respiratory Distress Syndrome because his lungs were just not ready to work yet. We all spent ten very long days in the Newborn ICU, and it was the most difficult thing I have ever lived through. We watched our new little boy’s health get worse and worse for the first several days. Finally, after many tears and many prayers, he turned the corner and started getting better. I was so happy to finally bring him home, because I can tell you that leaving the hospital every day without your baby is one of the worst feelings in the world! Now, just a few short days before Grant’s 11th birthday, you would never know that he was a preemie.

Because of all of this, when I was contacted by Sara to photograph little Ashley in celebration of her first birthday, I was thrilled. Preemies will always have a special place in my heart. They are the world’s best little fighters. And parents of NICU babies have a special bond with each other. It’s an experience that nobody else can really understand if they haven’t lived through it. Since I knew that I was going to be sharing a little of Grant’s story in this post, I asked Sara if she would mind sharing Ashley’s…

Our beautiful daughter Ashley came into the world on 11/8/08, when I was only 28 weeks pregnant! I had severe pre-eclampsia and it was not safe to continue the pregnancy. Ashley only weighed 1 lb 14 oz when she was born. You can not even comprehend how small that is unless you have ever seen a baby that tiny! From the beginning Ashley was a fighter, pulling out her breathing tube and avoiding ALL complications most preemies born that early have! We spent everyday in the NICU watching our little girl get bigger and stronger. It was the hardest thing in the world to leave her each night. Finally on 1/15/09, after 68 days and weighing 3lbs 10oz, we brought home a healthy little girl! She is absolutely a miracle!

Yes, Ashley is indeed a miracle. And she’s the sweetest little girl, with a great smile.

And the first thing you notice about her are her stunning blue eyes!

She loves to read books.

She did NOT so much love my purple tutu.

But the black one was a hit. :)

Kiss the belly!

These words are painted on the wall of Ashley’s bedroom. They could not be more true.

Now it’s time to celebrate! Today is Ashley’s first birthday. I think everyone out there should leave a comment and wish her a very happy birthday! I hope she has fun at her party today!

Beautiful names, beautiful kids

Posted on November 5, 2009

This is Saoirse (SEER-sha). Is that not one of the most beautiful names you have ever heard? And she has a beautiful smile to go along with it.
rodrigues_blog1

She has a big brother named Ronan. Also a fabulous name! If we ever have another son, his name will be Ronan. I’ve just decided that. Ronan Marriner sounds awesome. Not that I’ll ever have another baby, but just in case.

Ronan was not my biggest fan. He wanted no part of me taking pictures, or even being there. This is him trying to shut the door on me so that I couldn’t get in. :)
rodrigues_blog2

But eventually he warmed up to me. All it took was a dip into the Halloween candy bucket and reading a couple of books.
rodrigues_blog3

He may not like me too much, but Ronan loves his little sister. Everybody say “Awwwwwwww…..”
