The Gift Registry is Here!!
Posted on January 3, 2010
I’ve had several people ask for one, and it’s finally here! The Jen Marriner Photography Gift Registry is the perfect way to let your family and friends know what you really want – beautiful portraits! It’s great for baby showers, birthdays, and holiday wish lists.
How does it work? It’s easy…
1) Contact me and let me know that you would like to set up a gift registry.
2) I’ll give you a set of simple, tasteful gift registry cards that you can hand out or put in your shower invitations (see sample below).
3) Your friends and family contact me to purchase gift certificates or registry credits in any amount.
That’s it! And the gift-giving couldn’t be any easier for your guests. When they contact me they will be able to choose how they would like to deliver their gift. I can provide them with a gift certificate that they can bring to your shower or party. If they will not be able to attend your event, I can mail your gift certificate directly to you on their behalf. Or if they would like a “greener” option, they can purchase a registry credit instead. Credits work just like gift certificates, but without the paper. Once a credit is purchased, I will send an email to you letting you know how much has been added to your account.
Let me know if you have any questions on the new gift registry. And contact me right away if you would like to set one up!

Project…52??
Posted on January 1, 2010
Happy New Year all!
As I mentioned yesterday, I am not going to be doing the Project 365 thing again this year. It was just too much of a time committment last year, and too many times I looked at the clock, saw that it was after 11:00pm, realized that I hadn’t yet taken a picture for the day, and scrambled to see what I could find. It was just too stressful. So this year I’ve decided to try something a little different, and hopefully a whole lot more fun.
My plan is to do a weekly picture instead of a daily one. The picture will be posted each Sunday. And the subject of the pictures will be…
Well, that’s where you come in. I would like all of my friends, family members, clients, and blog readers to contribute at least one (but preferably several) ideas for photos. These ideas don’t have to be really specific (things like “Griffin underwater wearing a tutu while playing the drums” is not exactly what I’m going for). I’m looking for more general ideas. Things I can play with in my head, and maybe interpret a little differently than you had expected. You can suggest a setting (like Beaver Lake), an object (like a chair), a concept (sadness), or anything else you can think of. Get crazy! I may not be able to do all of your suggestions, but I will certainly try! And to get me through the year, I need 52 of these ideas. And I need at least a few of them soon, because my first photo will be posted this Sunday. That means I have only two days to complete my first assignment. So get crackin’ on those ideas! You can leave them in comments on this post, or you can email them to me.
One other thing – I need a name for this project! “Project 52″ just doesn’t do it for me. So as long as you have those thinking caps on, please give some thought to a fun, creative name for this whole thing. Thanks!
Last call for cards!
Posted on November 18, 2009
Just a reminder that orders for holiday cards must be placed by this Friday, 11/20. Please include your choice of card design as well as which image(s) you would like included. Card design options can be found on my client site. If you have lost your access information for the client site, please email me. Once your order and payment have been received, I will email you a proof for your approval. All final approvals must be in no later that December 4th! Approvals received by that date will have cards delivered by 12/18. If you need your cards before 12/18, please make sure to get your final approval in early!
And here’s one more card design that I just added. I’m actually thinking about using this one for our family card this year.

What to Wear – Fall 2009
Posted on November 2, 2009
I always get asked for suggestions on what people should wear for their portrait session. I had hoped to have this guide posted a little earlier, but I still have a few more sessions scheduled for this fall so I thought I would provide you with some ideas for fun clothes that photograph well. Look for additional seasonal clothing guides in the future!

Fridays
Posted on November 2, 2009
Wondering where the Flashback Friday post was last week? Well, after dealing with the swine flu in our house for two weeks last month, I am still working on getting everything caught up and getting galleries completed for my recent portrait sessions. This is in addition to working my school job, keeping up with Project 365, and getting the kids to their many activities in the evenings. So I have decided that Flashback Friday is going on hiatus until the first of the year. But I promise it will be back, and with some great gifts!
Recovering

OK, who didn’t cross their fingers??????!!!!!
Yeah, I got hit with Grant’s flu bug. Hard. Today is the first day that I’ve felt vaguely human again. Once more, I will be trying to get caught up on everything as quickly as possible. Here’s a tentative schedule:
- Project 365 pics for the past two weeks should be posted sometime this evening.
- Okoniewski gallery should also be up this evening.
- I’m going to attempt to finish Quinn’s sneak peek post. I’m not all that comfortable processing “real” pictures while still taking my cold and flu meds, but I’ll see how it goes. ![]()
- Anyone else awaiting their gallery should still have it in the time frame that was given at their session. I’ll let you know if I expect it to be delayed.
That’s all I have for now. Now if everyone could send some “good health” vibes my way, I’d certainly appreciate it! LOL
Scheduling

WOW!
That’s about the only word I can think of right now. I have been inundated with portrait session inquiries for this fall, and as I mentioned yesterday, my schedule is about full. But I hate the idea of turning anyone away, so I’m making a couple of changes to my scheduling.
The first change is the number of sessions I do each day. My normal policy is to only hold one session per day. That gives you as my client the most freedom to work around any other committments you may have on portrait day. But for the next six weeks or so, I’m going to open up a second session time on each weekend day. If you have already scheduled a session, this means that I will be contacting you to confirm a time, either morning or afternoon/evening, for your session. If you have recently inquired about a session date and found that it was unavailable, please contact me again as I may now be able to fit you in.
The second change is that I will now be offering evening sessions on Fridays, anytime after 4:00pm. This will change as the daylight gets shorter in the evenings, but I will keep it up as long as I can.
Thanks again to all of my wonderful clients. I love working with all of you, and I look forward to meeting and working with many more!
And unfortunately this post will have to go without a picture, since I need to get to work!
Holiday Mini Sessions – UPDATE!
Posted on September 21, 2009
If you would like to book one of my holiday mini sessions (see this post for details), then you should call or email me right now! I have only THREE session dates left! That’s right, only three!! So don’t be left out – contact me today to reserve your session date. Remember, the sessions can take place up until 10/31, but they must be booked by 9/30 – only 9 days left!
And since I don’t like to post without a picture, here is one I took this past weekend at Fair Haven. I love sunsets on the lake.

Yes, they are finally here! It’s my first-ever holiday mini session offer. If you are a fan of my Facebook page you got special sneak peek of this offer yesterday. You really should become a fan so that you can always be among the first to know about these things!
The best part of this package is that it comes with cards. If you missed my post a couple of days ago, check it out to see all of the new card designs. Then give me a call or shoot me an email to schedule your session! All sessions must be booked by 9/30 and they must take place by 10/31, so hurry! And if you know of someone who might be interested in this offer who is not yet reading this blog, be sure to use the “Share the Love” section at the bottom of this post to pass it along!
