I’ve put together this little guide to help you when you are selecting print sizes for your images. When you receive your proofs in your image gallery, they will be sized to 5″ x 7″. When you order enlargements, some of your image area may cropped out due to the aspect ratio of the print size you have chosen. This becomes a concern when you make an 8″x 10″ print from a 5″x7″ image, or when you make a square print.
The diagram below shows some of the most common print sizes and how they compare to each other.

One additional cropping note: when you order wallet-sized prints, a good amount of the edges of your image will be lost due to the way the wallet prints are cut. When considering an image for wallet prints, choose one that has a fair amount of extra space around the subject, so that none of the subject will be cropped out.
I hope this guide has been helpful for you. If you have any questions about how any of your proof images will look when printed at different sizes, please don’t hesitate to ask. Email me or call me, and I can crop the image to another aspect ratio and add it to your gallery so that you can see how it will look.
