New Christmas lights! And as of right now, the only snowflakes I’ve seen around here. What’s up with the lack of snow this year? Not that I’m complaining. :)

Another new Christmas decoration – I can’t wait to burn this pretty, minty candle!

First Congregational Church of Fulton

Posted on November 23, 2009

In early 2007 I was asked to photograph the First Congregational Church here in Fulton. The pictures were to be a gift from my church to theirs, as a way for their small remaining congregation to remember their wonderful old building, which had been forced to close. I had never been inside the church before, but had always admired the lovely architecture that surrounded that stunning round window. The stained-glass window was something I probably never took note of when I lived here as a young person. But after we moved away, the light shining through that window was my way of knowing that we were almost home. Viewed as we crossed the bridge at night, I would know that our long journey was almost at an end, and that soon we would be at our destination. I miss that window.

I knew that the church was going to be taken down soon. I had hoped to be able to photograph it, but unfortunately I was out of town on Saturday when it happened. It was a bit depressing when I returned and drove past the remaining pile of rubble. So today I am posting a few of those pictures from back in 2007.

I’ve always loved this picture of the huge pipe organ.

The window, viewed from inside.

Today was Grant’s long-awaited birthday party! He had fun at the mall with his friends and his cousins playing in the game room, eating ice cream and watching a (really boring) movie. A good time was had by all!
