Project 365 – Day 90
Posted on March 31, 2009
Today was one of those days that my boys look forward to every month – the day that the new Lego catalog arrives in the mail. It used to be that just Grant would spend hours studying it, but now that Griffin has become a Legomaniac as well, I think I may have to get two copies so that they don’t fight over it.

I don’t know why, but my kids are currently obsessed with TicTacs. Every day, several times a day, they ask if they can have some (hey, at least they’re asking). Every trip to the grocery store brings requests for some new flavor. This is the most recent. It’s not like I don’t like TicTacs, it’s just that I don’t really understand the enthusiasm for them. Give me chocolate any day.

Email issues?

It has come to my attention that recently at least one person has sent me an email that I did not receive. I suspect this may have been a problem with my jen@jenmarriner.com address, which is supposed to be automatically forwarded to my home email account. I normally answer all emails within 24 hours, so if you have sent something to me and have not received a response, please resend it to jmarriner@twcny.rr.com or call me at 315-592-2356.
Thanks so much!

He’s home! Grant got back from Boy Scout camp this afternoon, wearing the exact same clothes that he had on when I dropped him off Friday afternoon. He had three sets of clothes with him – one for Saturday, one for Sunday and one extra in case he got wet or muddy. Apparently changing clothes (and brushing teeeth!!) is not high on the list of priorities at Boy Scout camp.
As soon as he got back we had to scoot over to the swim team banquet. Fortunately I had the good sense to bring him a change of clothes for the banquet, so as soon as we got there I sent him into the bathroom to wash up and change his clothes. We had a great time at the banquet, which had a fiesta theme (as you can see in this pic).
Now that he’s home and showered and I’ve had some hugs I feel much better. Until the next time he goes!
More spring-y goodness

It’s raining here this morning, so here are a couple more of yesterday’s crocus pictures to brighten up your day…

It’s a gorgeous early spring day here. I know that it’s silly to think that we are done with snow – it is Central New York in March that we’re talking about. But days like this make me hope against hope that all of the white stuff is finally gone. But even if it’s not, I’m going to enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.
Also, what do you think of my new border with the logo? You can also see my new little mascot, the “Be taken by your pictures” bee.
He’s the first thing I’ve actually tried to design from scratch in Photoshop, and he’s definitely still a work in progress. But the kids enjoyed watching me put him together, telling me where to put the stripe, and how to make his antennae. It was fun.

Here’s my little man, all packed and ready to head off to camp with the Boy Scouts for the weekend. It’s his first weekend ever away from home without one of his parents. I’m sure he’ll have a great time, but I’m counting the hours till he comes home on Sunday.
And yes, the backpack is almost as big as he is!

Well, that was fast! About a week ago Griffin was asking me about the whole losing baby teeth thing (I’m guessing that one of his Kindergarten friends had lost one). So I did a quick check of his toofers and found them to all be firmly attached. I told him it might be a while before he lost his first one.
Wrong!
Last night he came to me with a wiggler. It was a pretty wiggly wiggler, too. Not that barely-moving kind but one that really moved back and forth a little bit. I estimated that we had another week before it would be ready to go completely.
Wrong again!
He came home from school today, started on his snack, and suddenly he was spitting out a tooth. I was surprised, and he was a little disturbed by the teeny amount of blood that came out with it. I guess I should have warned him about that, but I thought I had more time!
Griffin is heading up to bed now to put his tooth under his pillow. I wonder what the Tooth Fairy is paying for teeth these days?

This is what happens when you are out playing with sticks in the yard with your girlfriend. I don’t know if they were pretending the the sticks were swords or what, but for once Griffin was not the one responsible for an injury to Grant.

It’s that time of year again. I’m not a big fan of Peeps, but my boys are, so I was forced to bring these home from the store tonight.
